Satan is god's older brother. Remember, god is a jealous god, and of who else?

Actually, Satan was not the First but the second...because Satan was The Arch-Angel of Light and in the book of genesis, God said let there be light and there was light.
God uses his power to create light...so without power..no light. Michael was the first because he's the arch-angel of Power

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

I think Satan was a seraphin angel, they're the top in the angel heirography, though another answer says cherubim, so he/she could be correct. He was supposedly the most beatiful, angel of light I've heard. And no, satan wasn't Eve, Eve was human, Satan, not. The bible doesn't tell us which angel was created first, so I've no idea if he was the first, but its doubtful, Michael was the top dog of the angels.

His name was Lucifer. The Angel of Light (Lucid). His name was turned to Satan when he was cast from heaven with 1/3 of the angles for an attempted rebellion against God; he was an anointed Cherubim, if I remember my demonology class from Seminary. He was, I believe, the first created by God and he would open his wing and music would be created by the wind. He was the highest ranking angel; once he tried to fight for Moses body and he fought Micheal, the arc angle, and because he was over powered Micheal had to rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus, who was Lucifer's creator. Lucifer is the devil which means adversary. Anything that is polar to the message of the true God is a devil. Satan posed as a serpent and was the one who deceived Eve in the Garden. I apologize if this info isn't perfect I wrote it quickly and from my poor memory. If you're interested take a class on demonology at a seminary.

using modern terms....
1) Lucifer was God's back-wing angel. He was the Worship leader and Heaven's own Dj, and yes he was splendorous.
but when he rebelled, he was stripped of his splendor, cast out of heaven by Michael the Warrior Angel. No Satan was not of the highest rank, as "Satan" isn't an angel. Lucifer, Satan's former self was. The highest rank, I dunno, but he was definitely up there.
2) No, Satan wasn't Eve. Why would you think that. Satan decieved Eve, and i doubt the devil can manipulate himself.

Satan, from the Hebrew word for "accuser" (Standard Hebrew: שָׂטָן, Satan Tiberian Hebrew Śāṭān; Koine Greek: Σατανάς, Satanás; Aramaic: סטנא, Saṭänä; Arabic: شيطان, Šayṭān, Ge'ez: ሳይጣን Sāyṭān), is a term with its origins in the Abrahamic faiths which is traditionally applied to an angel. Ha-Satan is the accuser, a member of the divine council, who challenged the religious faith of humans, especially in the books of Job and Zechariah. Religious belief systems other than Judaism relate this term to a demon, a rebellious fallen angel, devil, minor god and idolatry, or as an allegory for evil.
There are many stories regarding the origins of Satan/Baal/Mephistophiles/etc. You appear focused on the "Paradise Lost" version. Certainly one of the better ones.
"Better to rule in hell than serve in Heaven" Refreshing sentiment.
