There are a lot of hateful, egotistical, self-seeking people here because it's easy and anonymous, and because the Internet is particularly youth-populated, and many youth haven't gotten enough maturity to communicate in a more even style.
But as you say, there are also a lot of beautiful people here! I see the trolls as good practice in training myself to focus on beauty and ignore as much ugliness as possible. It's kind of like that parable about the guard at the gates of an ancient city. A traveler entering for the first time asks what the place is like, and the guard asks, "What was your last home like?" The traveler replied, "It was wonderful! People were kind, and helpful, and supportive. I loved it there." "Excellent!" said the guard. "That's what people are like here!" The next day a traveler arrived, and the guard asked the same question. "It was awful!" said this new traveler. "People were ugly, and nit-picky, and obnoxious. I couldn't wait to leave!" "I'm sorry," said the guard. "That's what people are like here, too."
This isn't to say that it's all in our mind--there are some terrible trolls, here. But the more we focus on them, the more we empower them. IMHO. Feel free to disagree :-)

Peace!
Excellent question. We are all here in search of God and/or a better understanding of other people's religious beliefs through inter-religious dialogue. There is a a group here who are coming from a different perspective. I have no quarrel with atheists. It is just that I don't think they should be in this section. I believe they should be in the Philosophy or Humanities section instead.
We are spiritual, atheists are materialistic. We are faith driven, they are reason or proof driven. We are sensitive people, atheists are very assertive. We are right brain dominant, they are left brain dominant. We have supernatural beliefs, they have practical beliefs. Most of us hold religious reliefs, atheism is not a religion. The list goes on and on.
We are coming from two diametrically opposed views, so it is impossible for us to have a meaningful dialogue if atheists will continue to be in this section.
Just an opinion.

I am one of those people that moved on. I stop by on occasion to see what's up with you, and to answer a few of your questions. You are still combating the same issues: the hate, self serving and opiniated one way street stuff. It is boring and petty. I am religious but that never stopped me from loving all people and from trying to be open minded about things. It helps one to learn from others and expands your outlook and horizons. It doesn't mean you have to believe but just to listen in silence and appreciation for another humans opinion is to be humble and more than gratifying. Problem is, it is hard standing alone.....

Lets ask questions to try and understand each other...not ruffle feathers or complain about issues that are evident and obvious on sites such as this.....c'mon now!

I am a Christian and I agree with you. There are as many negative Christians as Non-Christians on here. It would be great if we all followed the "Golden Rule". Have a great week!

This site seems to appeal to the Trolls and to the "religious right".
Both will give you a rough time. Trolls just want to belittle and hurt; the right just wants to make you believe in their truths - even when they are way off base!

They are not really hateful they are just not happy... they chose to be sad and don't know why...
Everything and I mean everything has a purpose... you just have to see it, for once you do your perspective will change and you will come to understand why things are the way they are... then and only then may you change it.

They are proving the truthfulness of the Scriptures that say....
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ....false accusers,....fierce,despisers of them that are good,....traitors, ,....lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,.......ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of Truth".( II Tim. 3:1-7)
