Sometimes people are just angry. They probably did not fully absorb what you were asking and attacked as if you were not
honorable. Sorry, it happens.

Oftentimes, it is HOW it is said - not WHAT was said, which will determine the response, that you will receive from a question presented. People are strange. We live in an age of political correctness, which in it self is a bunch of crap ! The politicians play on this crap to suck votes from people by giving them the impression, that they [gov't.] is concerned about them. In all reality, re-election is on the minds of politicians not "political correctness" !

Well, that was just rude of them. That's the problem with email and being on line, sometimes the "tone" of a question or remark sounds different from how you meant it. Try rephrasing it again, or if he/she was the only nasty remark you got, don't worry about it. I've got a few nasty/stupid remarks too, goes with people being human I guess.

That happens when you do not give enough information. Without enough info people fill in the blanks for you and assume many things.

You need to understand that a good percentage of users on this site are very young and immature. They are prone to misread and misinterpret what they do read. They are also inexperienced in many things although like every young person they don't think so themselves.
