I don't give money to large chain stores like PetSmart or Petco. I only buy my birds and bird stuff from a place called Preuss Animal House, in Lansing Michigan.

I believe that by supporting Preuss, I support the knowledgable breeders, and the education of people wanting to buy healthy animals.

My bird came home in his carrier. My second bird will come home in that same carrier. If I didn't have a carrier, they wouldn't have let me bring home my bird. That's just the way it is. You wouldn't bring your kid home without a car seat, so why would you bring your bird home in a box with holes in it?!

Supporting Petco or PetSmart is tantamount to supporting puppy mills and child labor. It's disgusting what those people will do for money. And, I'm not a PETA rep, by far in the opposite direction, but I know and love my birds way too much to support that sort of treatment of others. Way too much.

Uh..because carboard boxes are cheap and the holes let in air so the bird can breath.
