The one with the stroller is really handy during the first months; the other ones are better in the long run, but I really liked the stroller. I was able to see my baby at all times; with a regular stroller you can't really see the baby unless you lean down.
My son is now 9 months old and I just went to get a different car seat. It all depends on what you want and what you like.

My suggestion would be an eddie bauer CONVERTIBLE. I have a three year old who could have been in that car seat when she was born and still uses it now and it will go up to 100 lbs. She will not need another car seat. I had one of the ones that went with a stroller but honestly unless you plan on shopping or going out a lot when the baby is young then you do not need one that goes on a stroller. The good thing about them though is that you can have a base in two different cars for one car seat. My choice though would have been the Eddie Bauer if I had found it sooner. As long as your baby weighs 5 lbs at birth then you can use the eddie bauer facing backwards until the child is 30 lbs and a year old then forward facing till 100 lbs. and at least so many inches tall. Check with your states' guidelines on the weights, age, and height things....

I highly recommend a stoller with the car seat that clips in. when that baby goes down for a nap, if you are going out within the hour, you will probably put it to nap in the car seat, so you don't have to wake the baby up and have a sceaming grumpy little one... then all you have to do is put the car seat in the car... and if you go to the mall or to the park you just clip the car seat into the stroller. Your baby is still sleeping in the same place you put him in at home.. but yet he doesn't need to wake up and jostled around...
If you do get the stroller/ car seat combo... here are some things I would recommend.. as stroller with a nice big basket under it. Also cup holder and a key or change holder.
As far as the car seat.. you need one with a base.. get a car seat that come with it... so all you have to do in the car is clip the car seat in... and it wil be more stable.. the old car seats tended to kinda rock back and forth a tiny bit if not seat belted in really reeally tight.

I had to bite the bullet and go with different ones. Those super covertable ones are tempting, but I would REALLY reccomend the carrier/base ones for the infant. Besides being a breeze to get in and out of the car, they fit right into the stollers. PLus, you can leave the baby in them where ever you go.
Next we have the basic toddler carseat. My daughter is 9 months old and does great in it. Very comfortable and it has the 5pt harness instead of that thing that comes down in front of her. It goes up to 40 pounds. After that I will have to buy a booster. At first I was going to go convertable, but I liked all the features of the individual seats.
Good luck!

Do not waste money on the infant kind that are carriers, too.
A baby will out grow them in 6 months.
Buy one that converts and will hold a child up to 35 lbs or so.
That will get you through to about age 3.
You can get pads to put in the seat around the tiny baby, if you need to.
A stroller set thing is a very bad idea. I bought one with my first. I paid almost $200. It took up almost all the truck space in our full sized car. It was very heavy and awkward to set up and take down.
I used it twice and went and bought a folding umbrella stroller and a convertible car seat.

I suggest getting an infant carrier (Graco Snugride with EPS) and using that until your child outgrows it. They seem to fit newborns a lot better.
After that, go with a rear-facing convertible seat AT LEAST until the child is 1 year and over 20 lbs. The longer they rear-face the better. (Some seats rear-face up to 30-35 lbs)
Britax seats are great. They are pricey though.

we got one that the car seat sits on top of the stroller. it was a life saver. it was so easy, especially for when my son was little. and now that he's older, we just use the stroller. it's a lot easier to get them in and out of places by just taking the entire car seat out and hooking it on the stroller. the care seat has a base that it hooks into you car so you never have to worry about seat belts and buckles all the time. go out to wal-mart and just look around at what they have.

You want an infant carseat that will hold up to at least 25 pounds, 35 is ideal. Rear-facing is a must. so is a 5-point harness, and a head support. You want a carseat that will hold your baby untill he/she is 12 months old. DO NOT put your child in a forward-facing toddler carseat untill then, or untill the pediatritian okays it. Sooo many fatatlities occur every year because the baby is in a carseat that just doesnt fit. people assume that because their baby can sit up, walk, hold their head up, whatever.... that they are ready for a big carseat, and its simply not true. the baby's body is still not proportional to a toddlers, and his/her bones are still too frail and unable to absorb shock.
the below site should help you make a good decision.
I hope this helps!

For my second child I got a regular carseat( not a carrier) It was for babies from 5 pounds. Because I did not want to have to buy another one in a year or so. It worked out pretty well. I had one of the baby carriers that you wear strapped to your body and it was fine. The carseat is still in use today she is four. Just have to wash it once in a while.

You should try to find one of these two car seats the Baby Trend Flex-Loc and the Graco SnugRide with EPS. Because they were rated the two safest in the lasted consumer ratings.
