I have an acne treatment that has won me the best answer over thirty times. Usually, the person who voted it the best answer was amazed at how well it worked, even those who had severe cases of acne. I'll copy and paste it below.

Use a hot compress on it (a washcloth, sponge, or anything that will allow you to apply moist heat to the area), and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, rinse it with warm water, blot off the excess water with a clean towel, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.

Here are some of the previous comments I cut and pasted from those who voted it as the best answer, (Copied and pasted as written. Capital letters seen are as originally answered)

I have adult acne and use Basis bar soap and Retin A Micro. You'll need a prescription for Retin A but if you have prescription coverage as part of health insurance, it can be pretty inexpensive and it lasts so long that it's actually less expensive per month than most drug store products.

When I was young an egg yoke facial mask worked pretty well. You just take a raw egg and separate the yoke from the whites. Break the yoke and mix it up until it's liquidy then apply it to your face. Let it dry and then rinse off well. Egg yoke is rich in vitamin A and vitamin A will help keep your skin clear. Using the yoke as a mask delivers the vitamins right to your skin.

Proactive didn't work for me either.. your skin might have reacted with the ingredients in it. I'm currently just washing my face with warm salty water and using a clean and clear moisturiser (oil free) and it seams to be working really well!! You may take a couple of days before you see a difference. Give it ago you never no!!

Hi. As well as all the usual stuff (ie: washing face, creams etc), try taking zinc tablets every day. I used to suffer from acne and once I started on these it cleared up pretty quickly. Give it a try, as it is a really cheap alternative to all those expensive creams and stuff.

Good luck, I hope it clears up.

My mom (who suffers from adult acne, bless her soul) uses a bar soap called "Purpose" and swears by it. I'm afraid I can't tell you the brand, nor its contents, but it's very fairly priced, and should be available at most stores. I hope I helped. =)
