Don't stress out! :) I haven't tested for a black belt, but I have tested for lower belts. I'd suggset you don't eat anything too heavy or greasy, ie fatty foods the night before or the day of. Last thing you need is an upset stomach worsened by butterflies!
Don't work yourself too hard either. You know what you know and you don't what you don't. Just make sure you know your forms and go over any moves you've had problems with in the past. Don't go partying too hard or do anything crazy.
Probably your best bets for food would be things you've eaten in the past--perhaps up it a little for more energy and pep. Be sure it's a balanced meal so you don't get cramps or anything during the test.
Just relax and trust yourself! Good luck!!

Don't change your eating or drining habits greatly. Concentrate on being mentally ready. After years of preparation, the physical side of black belt testing should be of no great consequense.
Your focus should be on relaxation and confidence. I have been judging black belt testings for the last ten years, and I have yet to see someone fail because of nutrition or hydration issues. That being said, I am sure this has happened, but this is not common. The biggest problem I see is that people do not believe that they are worthy of a black belt. If you do not have faith that the years of training and practice you have put in to your art will not work for you at the moment of testing, then you need to train more or find another school. If you feel that you have earned it, then your black belt test should be a display of your skills to your instructor and verification to yourself that you have earned the rank.

Congratulations for making it that far. You should not stress on the test. You should always eat a good breakfast, something high in fibber. For lunch eat something light or drink a power drink. Water is always the best. If you do have to drink something a half an hour before your test sip on water (just enough to keep your mouth wet).
Hope this help. Good luck Saturday.

Surely if you are taking a grading for a Black Belt, you will already be experienced at gradings??
Why do you not do what you have done for your previous ones?
You shouldn't have to prove anything, your instructor should know when you are ready for your next grade! What if somebody was to start on you in the street? Would you say " Oh sorry I've not eaten properly today" or "Sorry I haven't had enough sleep"
You will find that alot of BJJ'ers don't grade but they are given their next grade, because it is not about being able to do something at a specific time but being able to progress, take things in and progress your technique over a period of time.
Would your instructor fail you for doing something wrong during the grading, but over the last 100 classes you have learnt and perfected this technique and perfomed it 100's of times, but just once it doesn't work. Does that mean you are incapable of doing it??? No it doesn't, sometimes things work sometimes things don't.

Long warm showers or baths will help you relax, moo kum (meditate), eat light...no fast food or beef. As for the stretching it mat be best dune right after the shower or bath, muscle are relaxed and warm just remember, take it slow. When you get to class find a corner and do some more meditation and stretching.
Have confidence, you can do it, just keep all those positive thoughts running your mind and you'll have high marks on that exam.
I hope this information is just what you needed and don't forget to have fun.
I wish you the best.

Don't worry about the petty things like what you are going to eat, how to get psyched up, or any of that other foolishness. Start concentrating on your efforts when you are up against your opponent. You have already shown that you are capable of getting a black belt, so just relax until test time.

Just relax. I know it's a big day, but there's nothing you can do the day of that's going to prepare you any more or less than you are now. You're either ready or your not. If you're not, like I said, nothing will get you ready in a few days. If you are, then just relax and enjoy yourself and show that you are.

avoid excess sugar, which gatorades do have. they may have electrolytes, but the sugar gives you the dry's.
eat & sleep well for the rest of the week.
on the day eat pasta (fresh, not dried) however you like it. that way you are getting carbs. for lunch eat tuna sandwiches with whole grain bread: protein and more carbs... have boiled eggs as snacks too, as they are almost a perfect food, and light enough to stomach one when training.
nuts & raisins are another good snack to have handy.
black belt... so you are ready to move on to another style to further your understanding of your potential.

1st, relax (I know that's hard to do). Don't pig out & avoid a lot of fat. Also don't drink too much. Nervousness stimulates the kidneys & you don't want to be running to the bathroom evry 5 minutes. Stretch the way you normally do. Go through your forms gently, so you won't forget the moves but don't tire yourself out.
Good luck!
