My boyfriend is technically only a year younger than me but two grades. He looks alot older and is really mature although when people find out how old he really is they can't believe that i am dating someone two grades younger than me. However my last boyfriend was three grades above me and no one seemed to have a problem with that. So why can't they except the fact that I like a guy younger than me?

it's a sociological thing. people are more willing to accept an older women with a younger man. There is something about a young man dating an older one that makes us want to cheer on the younger guy. south park addressed the issue, a 20/20 episode on the age of consent did the same thing. Bottom line in between Van Halen's song "hot for teacher" and ABC's new series Cougar town. It's becoming a norm. PS. I'm the younger guy in a relationship. we starting when i was 17 and she was 18. I'm now 18.

My boyfriend and I have the same problem. Only he's in the same grade. Personally I think that it's because society accepts more things that guys do than girls. That there are some things that have stuck with it. Most of the time men are older than the woman that they marry and love, so when the woman is older everyone is just surprised and doesn't understand. That or it could just be ignorance.

Because generally females mature at a faster rate then men do so females tend to date older men who are mature. If you are dating someone younger and he is mature, good for you. I think the age gap shouldn't make a difference, it all depends on maturity level and what you look for in a guy.

Well I think it is just that most people don't like the fact of younger boys dating older girls...I am one of those people I don't think it's anything wrong wit it but I wouldn't do it...I mean I only date older guys...I don't even date guy my same age...I don't kno why but I just don't...LOL

Maybe its just been that way for so long that were used to seeing guys being older than the woman they date or marry.

people feel females are more mature than guys (rightfully so in most cases) so society is more accustomed to a younger female dating a older male.

it justs seems wierd but they respect you for getting a guy thats older. they think you are deperate for dating someone younger. remember whoever your dating that is younger than you they are dating someone older than them and vice versa, that is why relationships with a lot of age difference don't work out

mainly because we mature faster than guys so if a guy is like 3 years older than u u r just as mature as he is and if a guy is 3 years younger than u than they r seen as immature
