I only took 150 mg once daily for less than 3 weeks. I had to stop taking it because I broke out in hives and my skin was itchy everywhere. If I haven't taken any since yesterday at noon, when would I be ok to have a glass of wine or some drinks?

To all you people accusing me of lying.. I do have hives. Don't believe me? I've been itchy all day and miserable. So **** you all. Second, my doctor ordered me to stop the meds. Third, I only want to know if I can have a glass of wine or two to celebrate my friend's wedding next week. **** you all.

A drink or two would be ok.. It just a caution that it could make the alcohol affect a little stronger.. It's not like a couple of drinks is going to make you fall in the floor drunk.. I took it to quit smoking for about 6 months and had a couple of drinks every now and then with no problem at all.

If you are smart you will take your meds and not miss the dose- you aren't suppose to miss them and don't drink. You do increase your chances of having problems. My husband takes WellButrin and even though he had a shot of vodka along with some energy drink in it and he was fine I don't suggest doing it. Why take the risk.

This is not particularly good advice, but my experience with drinking while still on Wellbutrin has been completely uneventful over the years, so I highly doubt you will have any problem once you are off of the meds. Obviously, drinking on meds is a bad idea...this is common knowledge. I'm just speaking from my personal experience here.

i guess that depends on why you were prescribed wellbutrin.
and.. did you stop taking it because of the hives ( fearing they were
a side effect) ? or did you stop taking it so you could resume drinking?. self medication is not a wise choice, and lets be honest
with yourself about (a) your wanting a drink so soon after "stopping"
wellbutrin, or (b) "breaking out into hives ..good cover ;)..
or (c) mabey you just weren't ready.. and thats O.K.
it's O.K. now take a deep cleansing breath and say' i need some time'. general rule of thumb would be 2 days abtinence per each day on this pharmicutical. If your intention was to quit smoking, try CHANTIX . good luck and God speed.

I would wait and check with your doctor. Wellbutrin is for depression and alcohol is a depressant I wouldn't suggest drinking at all
