You have to be there to tend to them alott. Always give it as much attention as you can, clean up after it, walk it, feed it on time, just let them know you can do it on your own, to where they dont have to. It really helps.

You're parents may think that you have enough responsibility with the two pets that you already have. Also, the middle of the school year is not a good time to begin raising a pup. They take a lot of work, training and time in the first months. Try waiting until it is closer to summer and you will have the time to spend with pup during the day. Also check out local puppy kindergartens and try to earn the money yourself to pay for the training. It will show your parents that you are really serious about giving a puppy proper care.

puppies take alot of time and patience. they are not like a hamster and ferret that stay in their cage most of the time. a puppy will chew your stuff pee on your bed and do alot of other puppylike things. mabye your parents don't feel that u can handle another pet right now. don't worry u won't be in your parent's house for ever! since u can't have a puppy now start researching on differrent breeds and read as much stuff as u can about dogs so when u do get a puppy u will know just what to do.

Puppy's are alot more responsibility than a hamster or a ferret. They are alot of work, and require alot of time and training. Because of the fact that you still live with your parents, it's their house and you have to follow their rules. When you get your own place, you can have any dog you want, but until then, you have to do what your parents say.

Well does you parents know that your responcible? If you are good at caring the ferret and hamster, you would probably be responcible at caring a puppy.
Talk to your parents and ask that you really want a puppy and that you will always be there for it, counting the other pets.

Just let your parents know, respectfully of course, that you are very responsible in taking care of your hamster and ferret and feel you could handle a puppy too. Don't beg or act annoying because then they really won't think you're mature enough and you'll never get one. You have to be patient... Good luck!

Maybe you could foster a puppy. Contact your vet or local SPCA. They always need people to foster all kinds of animals. It's not permanent so if it's not for you then you're not "stuck" with the animal. However if you do a good job with 1 or 2 puppies then maybe your parents will let you have 1 of your own.

Do some research online about how to care for and train a puppy, and write a letter to your parents about what you've learned and how well you've cared for your other pets. That should impress them :)
