The word "Chanukkah" means dedication. John 10:22 places Jesus at the Feast of Dedication. Isn't it odd that Jesus, the Christian G-d, would celebrate a Jewish feast? And, even more odd that it's not in Torah, but it IS in the New Testament!

If the Christian G-d celebrated it AND it's in the Christian New Testament, why aren't Christians celebrating it?

Easily explained. It's not in the Torah because it didn't happen until after the Torah was written. It happened in between the writings of the TaNaKh and the "New Testament". Therefore, it would've been written about as common practice in those times.

Edit: Oops didn't see your addition. It isn't celebrated because of the Council of Nicea wanting to separate their church from all jewish practices.. they changed the Shabbat to Sunday (the day of Constantine's god Apollo), and Pesach to Easter (in honor of the goddess Oestre). Prior to this, many early "christians" followed jewish practice.

I don't see why it's odd.Jesus was a Jew,and he grew up in a Jewish home.
The reason why it's not in the Torah is because the events that Chanukkah celebrates happened in the period between the end of the Old Testament and the birth of Jesus.
And some Christians, including Messianic Jews,do celebrate Chanukkah.

Jesus, being a Jew, would naturally have kept this feast. It truly does mention in St. John 10:22-23 "Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter, and Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch."

Today the feast of dedication is called Hanukkah although it commerates the same event.

Jesus was of Jewish Descent. HE and HIS followers were all Jewish and until HE was murdered and arose from the dead they all spent time in the Jewish Temples. If you were Jewish you would have been there too. Later, HIS Disciples became CHRISTIANS after HIS Ascension into Heaven. The Church was formed in Acts 2. Have a great week.
