i did a similar report about four years ago.
you want to catch the attention of your readers-- try to stay away from technical terms in a thesis statement, and DONT offend people who dont agree. otherwise, they will tune out the rest of your report. (even if the only person to see the paper is your teacher, she will notice if it begins abbraisively.)
say something like, "Abortion has been a controversial topic for as long as the idea has existed. People argue that it is the mother's body, the mothers choice. Other's say that a life is a life, no matter how small. But what really goes into an abortion? Can you really limit your stance to simply Pro-life/Pro-choice?" I don't believe you can. Here's why."

Think of several reasons why abortion should not be allowed and include them in your thesis. For example, "Abortion should be illegal in all circumstances because every abortion kills an innocent human being and has the potential to physically and emotionally harm the mother as well."

Here's some information you can use, and maybe it will give you other ideas for your thesis as well:

First of all, to answer this question. You need to know your stance on abortion. Are you pro-choice, or the right to life? After that, you must research your topic, and from the research you obtain, you will be able to make a clear, concise statement about what you'll be proving in your paper.

I was always told that your thesis should state your introduction to the topic, and the three main points you support, disagree, or plan to talk about relating to the topic. and then in the rest of your paper discuss each point individually with transition phrases in between and in some kind of order.

you could say something like, "abortion is a very controversial subject among many people because ____________. One feels that it should not be allowed because _______________, _____________, and _____________....." and whatever else you want your introduction to say.
