The same like other diagonally from bottom left to upper right or the opposite. If it's wide than it has 16:9 comparison between the length and the wide.

The exact same way that other monitors are measured - diagonally from the lower left to the top right. The only difference is that with flat panels, the entire surface is usable. With other types of displays such as older computer monitors and TV's, there's about half of inch of black around the entire picture, reducing the overall VIS (viewable image size.) So, a 27" monitor may only have a 26" VIS. A 21" flat panel will have a full 21" VIS.
