These are American Goldfinches in winter plumage. This is the most common species of goldfinch in the United States. There are two other species, Lesser Goldfinches and Lawrences Goldfinch. Both of them are western species. Goldfinches develop a bright yellow plumage in Spring when they are breeding. Keep your eye open, you could get some other finches, like Purple Finch, House Finch or Pine Siskins.

That is a Goldfinch. The males are the ones that are the pretty yellow. The yellow gets brighter in the Spring.

I am a bird-watcher's daughter. I am also infatuated w/ birds. These are definately Goldfinches. So-o-o cute. Such a great picture of them!!! Keep up the good work!!!

They kind of look like female Goldfinches, not positive though.
