Our 13 week old Boxer X was coming along very well with house training when we got him at 8 weeks. Crate training took some work, but even after only 2 nights he would sleep in it up to 7hrs straight through the night with no problems.

Lately he has been peeing in the house more when roaming during "play time" and even after going for regular walks he will pee again not long after coming inside.

We've decided to return to basics and have him spend more time in his crate to force him to hold it as he easily can through the night. However, he will pee in his crate right in front of us (today after he peed 3 times on his walk 20min before going into his crate). There is no blanket, it is sectioned off and he definitely doesn't mind the crate as he will go in on his own for his own quiet time.

So why, when we put him in while we're home, does he still pee in it?

His crate is just big enough for him to lie down - we spoke to a vet and if it's an infection he shouldn't be sleeping through the night as he is.

It could be your dog has a urinary tract infection if it is peeing frequently.

Before you change its training, I would take it to get checked out.
