I have been pregnant with and had two children. It is an amazing experience bringing life into the world. I have had ultrasounds as early as 7 weeks into the pregnancy (which is actually only 2 weeks post conception) and that life is present immediately...Moving and growing. At the 18 week ultrasound it is a full formed baby that you can see grabbing at it's arms and legs and moving all over the place. With today's technology, babies can surive out of the womb as early as 22 weeks.

Abortions can be obtained up until 35 weeks (maybe even later). It is called a partial birth abortion. Babies are born at this point and are perfectly fine.

So personally, I think that people who do not want this responsibility need to be responsible enough to not get pregnant in the first place. And if you do, you need to be responsible to the life that you helped create. Adoption is the most beautiful gift you can give to a couple that wants children and can not conceive.

Of course there is the rape argument...But I think every life deserves a chance to come into this world and serve it's purpose. The baby may heal that mother's pain or could go to a family that is desperate for a child.

I too did a debate on this. I argued against abortion and the reason I did was that beyond all of this, what I found in my research over and over and over again was that the women who had abortions went through so much trauma physically and emotionally. Sometimes there are physical injuries that will not allow women to get pregnant when they want to later on. I can not imagine the guilt/pain that a woman would experience at this point. Many of them do not talk to anyone because they are ashamed. I had a friend who had one that I thought she would never get over it. It was devastating to her. She did not feel she deserved to have a child after it and would remember the first child on what would have been birthdays etc. It was gut wrenching.

Our society promotes abortion as being the best way out because it solves the problem for society. We give them an abortion and there is no follow up afterwards...I think we should do a better job of supporting these women...giving them the resources they need to get through the pregnancy in a healthy way and give them counseling so they can make an empowered decision regarding the baby.

Meanwhile we need to educate our youth as much as possible so that people know how to not get pregnant when they are not ready.

About a year ago NPR had a man who in the late 60's lobbied for abortion based on the fact that 1 million illegal back alley abortions were taking place putting the mothers at great risk...my understanding is that partly based on that information abortions were legalized. He admitted in the interview that this number was fabricated and his group could really only prove less than 100,000. I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and the so called "fetus" looked just like a baby to me...head,body,legs,arms,feet,heartbeat,and a little hand that kept waving to me. Outlaw late term abortion and insist that a sonogram be done before an abortion is done-if you can look at that picture and see nothing more that a mass of cells-fine, have an abortion. But if you see a baby-you may save yourself a lifetime of regret. Adoption is always an option.

Every abortion kills an innocent human being. This is not an opinion, but a fact. Killing innocent human beings is wrong. For more information, see:

I think every WOMAN has the right to choose. I think men should not comment on abortion because they never have and never will be in that situation. I think if a woman has more than 1 or 2 abortions then there is a problem. Some women have to have an abortion because of pregnancy complications.

It is a woman's choice. I am thankful that it is a choice that I have never had to make, but glad that the option is there for many reasons. I do not believe that it should be used as a method of birth control and it upsets me to hear of girls having multiple abortions. I also think that late term abortion is not right, unless the mother's life is in danger. It is a sensitive issue that people tend to feel very strongly about. Keeping abortion legal protects the health and well being of people that are going to seek it out regardless of the law.

Ok, I looked, and I STILL Feel this way, and most have already made up their mind, and I don't expect to change anyone else's.

I do not believe that I would ever have an abortion, because I believe that it would be a gift from God -- That being said ....

I am Pro-CHOICE as it is NOT MY PLACE to make judgments about another's life, reasons or whatever. That's between the woman, her partner, her doctor and her God.. NOT ME! Keep it legal AND SANITARY.. No woman should have to use a coat hanger in this day and age! Whether you are Pro-Life or not, should NOT mean that the Mother's life is also lost due to bad abortion tactics. BE REAL, OUTLAWING IT does *NOT* make it stop.. it just sends it underground. Does making drugs, prostitutes, child molestation illegal STOP it? Nope, and neither would this. So let's remain smart, keep it legal so we don't lose 2 lives instead of 1! (from the woman having an infection from a bad procedure and not willing to go to the doctor for fear of being arrested.. so they DIED which is why it was passed in the first place!).

Well, since I'm an atheist "heathen," I don't believe that we have souls. That said, I don't think it is a baby, or really anything that even matters until around the end of the second trimester.

I care not for fetuses, I care them not.

I have a MUCH bigger problem with people who continue to smoke while pregnant (and plan on keeping it) than anybody who has an abortion, which in my mind is a victimless crime.

I am against abortion unless the life of the child and or the mother were ever in danger of death.

I think sex has an amount of responsibility to it that most people have forgotten. If you are going to go through with such actions then be prepared to face what may. I know there are rape and incest cases. But even then I believe it is best to take the position on the side of LIFE.

Life is for living.
Not for taking.

I think it's a very difficult issue and therefore I shouldn't enforce my opinion on other people. I don't think I would get an abortion but it should be a personal choice. It's not the religious right's responsibility to make moral decisions for others, especially nonchristians, and someone needs to put them in their place!

I have a opinion on abortion, however, since I am a male I really feel it is best to remain silent on the actual act of abortion. "Not my body, not my problem", so to speak. I am however, vehemently against the Federal government requiring tax payers to fund abortions.
