I've had spybot for over a year--and all of a sudden it's taking over 3 hours to scan when before it only took like 10 minutes--anyone know why this would happen? Thx!

Uninstall Spybot. Run the Disk defragment. Run Disk Clean up to clean out all the junks and IE caches in your PC. Reinstall Spybot and you should be ok again.

It is a Spybot bug. Please see the post I made on this subject at the Yahoo Anti-Spy Forum:

Well, the simplest answer is, you have a lot of temporary files. Of course, you could have a lot of permanent files too. Try flushing your cache and deleting all of those temp files and see if that helps.

you have a lot more files on you computer? maybe you should try a virus scanner to see if viruses are slowing it down... or maybe you have too many programs running at the same time!

You have a trojan or virus that is trying to shut down your antivirus. I recommend that you download A-Squared Free - it willl solve the problem.
