We sterilize lethal injection needles and make instant coffee in a microwave oven.

This has to say something about our society, I'm just not certain what.

Because even if they die like planned, if it ever got out that the needle wasn't sterile then their family could sue for cruel and unusual punishment or something like that. I think it is a little pointless, but there are enough obstacles dealing with lethal injection so an unsterile needle would just complicate the problem.

All medical needles come sterile. Only a fraction of a percent are used for lethal injections so it wouldn't be cost-effective for the manufacturers to run a special lot of non-sterilized needles. These things are made in bulk and cost pennies a piece.

They have to do things the proper and just way. They must not use any form or cruel or unusual punishment, as that is made illegal by the Constitution of the United States. They could get in major trouble if any medically sterile procedure is bypassed intentionally to inflict cruel punishment. Hope this helps! It does seem pointless, but it is a right we have guaranteed to us by our forefathers.

Modern medicine uses disposable everything. Its cheaper than sterilization and safer (for medical staff). All needles in America are disposable (1 time use) and come sterile.
