ANd what should I do to fix it? I tried adding more flour cuz when i got done the batter seemed to be runny and so after I did that twice i tried adding more baking soda but they are still so soft there bread like. I used the recipe on the back of the nestille tolhouse choc. chip bag and I followed it exactally. The only reason i can think of is that i used country crock margarine, would that create a prob. I pretty sure i have used it before and they came out just fine.

It's the "tub" margarine that you used. You must use a stick margarine or crisco butter flavored sticks. The batter you have is ruined beyond repair.

It sounds like you may have accidently doubled the butter?? Also, you should use a hard margarine, not soft when baking. I'm not sure why else it wouldn't have worked as it is a good recipe. Some days you just have a flop no matter what you do. Better luck next time!

Did you try to make the cookies before you decided to add flour? Just freeze the batter. I make cookies all the time with that recipe and never have any problem. It doesn't matter if you use tub butter or stick butter. Just freeze it a little while.

Crock Maragine IS MOSTLY WATER! That is why they are like Pancakes. Substitute Real Butter and try increasing the Oven Time about 5-Minutes!

Thanks, RR

You have to use hard margerine or butter. i've never tried soft but I'm interested to know what happens.

If you are using the contry crock to reduce the fat another way that works very well is to use half the butter/shortning and replace the other half with apple sauce, it's surprisingly successful it doesn't taste like apples.

That margarine has more water. Use butter or butter /shortening combo.
