Well, it kind of depends on the breed and what it looks like. I bought a miniature schnauzer a few years ago and he was little spitfire. I named him Norbert after the little dragon in Harry Potter. If he would have been a she I was going to name her Hermoine - the little girl in Harry Potter. (Not sure of the spelling.) If it's a small dog, and it's a girl, names of flowers are kind of cute too - Lily, tulip... Or fruits, Peaches, Kiwi.... If it's a boy, what about some of the major sports players on the teams that are in your State? I'm in the Kansas City area and if I had a little boy dog I would consider Priest, Larry, Johnson.... Remember, a pet is like a member of your family. Love him or her for ever and take good care. I love my pups like little children. Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter much except to you and the dog. I suggest keeping it simple. Limit the number of syllables to two or less. Stay away from names which might be obscene to another by chance. Fudge is an example. Colors are good names as are tastes such as Sweety, Salty. Consider other senses. Beauty, Beast, Loud, Hefty. Consider literature. Little John, Big Ben, Little Red, Heidi, Blondie, Cinders.
Pick something with which you can be happy and not embarrassed. I mistakenly chose Lady for my dog. I must be aware of who is around me before correcting my dog by name. You never know who might be offended.

Hi. No one can name your dog for you. That is something you will have to do on your own. It is almost like naming your child. Whatever you believe is good for him or her. What do you see when you look at him or her? I know this might not be what you wanted but it is the best I have for now. Good luck!

hmmm, lots of advice in here! Google, pet names and you'll find lots of different sites devoted to naming your fur friend. I've always liked "Scout" for a female shepard, or Tucker for a male dog. As stated, you did not give us enough information to really help you out.

The shorted the name, the easier it is for the dog to learn it.
I like Jazz, or Pete, or Harry

Congratulations on your new dog. It would really help alot, if you could give a few more details, on your dog. What breed is it? Is it male or female?

Is it a girl or a boy?
Kind of dog?
Mittens, Cuddles, Watch, Brownie, Choco, Chocolate, Vanilla, Snowy, Snowball, Snowflake, Daisy, Sunshine, Buttercup, Butterscotch, Butter, Rose, Lily, Spots, Fluffball, Fluffy, Dotes, etc.
Try not to make the name too common. (e.g. Sarah, Michael)
Name it after his/her personality...!
That should help...
It doesn't need a name right away does it?

I have been there. No problem, just wait and get a feel for it's personality and you will come up with a great name, no worry, no hurry. Yea you, you got a dog!
