They charge $14.95 for "Basic" Turbotax plus an additional charge to get your refund back faster, but they don't tell you how much it will cost until you give them your credit card info.

"Expedite" meaning if I mail in my forms, I'll get my refund in 6-8 weeks via direct deposit, but if I use Turbotax, I can get my refund in 10-14 days.

No one, and I mean no one, can expedite a federal tax refund. If your taxes are filed electronically, whether from Turbo Tax, H&R Block, or a CPA, it takes 8 to 15 days for the refund to be available for deposit into your bank account, or to be ready to be mailed to you if you choose that option. Of course, your bank may take a few days to accept the deposit and the US mail may take an extra week to deliver the check.

What you may be thinking of is when people offer you a "payday advance" loan for your refund. That is when you get your "refund" either immediately or in a day or two after you file. This used to be called Rapid Refund and is now more commonly called RAL. The IRS actually doesn't give you your refund that quickly. They still take 8-15 days. But, some bank issues you a loan at a very high interest rate and when your refund is released, it goes to pay the bank back.

It is usually $10 to e-file. I have used Turbo Tax since 1991 and it works well.
