I cut little slits throughout the roast and insert garlic cloves. I also use Lipton Onion/Mushroom soup mix on occasion. I was watching an infomercial w Ron Popeil (sp), for a rotisserie -- but what interested me was the two flavor injectors. One injects liquids into roasts etc., and the other injector can be filled w solids like black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto etc.
Here's a look at the injectors:

Rump roast is usually not the very best cut of meat and tends to be tuff---so- place the roast in a roaster,i pkg Lipton's dried onion soup, sprinkle it over the roast, add directions for water, cover and slow bake--350f oven. About I hour before the roast is done check the water level--need more? Add some, place pealed potatoes, carrots, turnip, parsnips around the roast. Back to oven till veggies are soft . Take the veggies out, and the roast, Whats left can be made into the best gravy you have ever tasted. Trust me--its GREAT. plus you get one tender roast. YUM YUM
