My hair is VERY frizzy and wavy, not necessarily curly, but I straighten it all the time and here's what I use:
Bumble & Bumble styling lotion spritzed on right after the shower which protects my hair from breakage. Then I spritz on Frizz-Ease hair straightener (several sprays - if you feel like your hair is too stiff after drying then use a little less). I straighten it with a blow dryer and natural bristle brush when it's pretty wet - then I'm not pulling on partially dry hair and breaking it. After I think it's dry, I start over and run my brush through it with the dryer again! Because if it's left a little damp, it will frizz up again. Then I use Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon. Use just a little, working it throughout your dry hair for at least a minute. Believe it or not, Velcro rollers, will also help smooth dry hair and give it nice bounce. It's a process! But if you do it well, you shouldn't have to wash your hair again for another 3 days.
Good Luck!

Maybe you are getting all that damage because you are not using a good enough iron. Try entering at folica.com there you can read reviews and see pictures of their customers before and after using their tool. Try ceramic and tourmaline, they work magnificently on my hair (still it is not thick or too curly...) Also use a product that protects your hair before using any hot tool on your hair, like Tresemme Heat Tamer.
You can also try Bio Ionic, it is a very expensive treatment, still your hair doesn't get damaged and the results last for six months when you have to get a retouch. Your hair will stay straight EVERYDAY when you wash it, at the beach, at the pool, in humidity... simply always.
HOPE THIS HELPS!♥

Not really babe sorry, i have the same hair type as you and i went and got it chemically straightened, but the chemicals burnt my scalp and my hair fell out in clumps so think carefully before you go that far.
Also apart from using a protecting spray before u straighten it, try and do it only once or twice max a week to cut down on damage.
And experiment on what you can do with the hair you have. Speak to a hairdresser about the most low maintenance style for you.
hope this helps

use a really nice breakage defense shampoo and conditioner combo, and put a small amount of heat protectant serum in your hair before you begin flat ironing it. divide your hair into small sections, and iron it slowly, but keep the iron moving at all times. then use a finishing spray to protect your hair from the damages of the flat iron.

I have similar hair, It took a while to get it done but I had a friend blow dry my hair and brush it continously and it came out straight in the end. She put the brush in my hair and pulled it down towards her with the hairdryer pointed and that strip of hair. It took a while but it looked good.

I use to fight my curls with chemicals irons etc. However once you find a good cut - layers work for me, accept the fact that the more you fight your nature the harder your life will be. Breathe through your nose slowly and love your curls. Your hair will become healthier and you'll be so happy.

When I was a teenager, we used to either use a coffee can as a roller. (Put your hair in a high ponytail, slather it with gel and wrap it around a coffee can, pinning the hair as you go. Cut off the rubberband.) Or you can use you head as a roller. (Just wrap you hair neatly around your head and pin as you go. Don't forget the gel)
