Myself and partner regularly have chocolate cornflake clusters, our dog goes mad and always trys to sneak one when we are not looking. I dont allow her any as the chocolate is bad for her. If she is allowed cornflakes then i am prepared to make her some dog ones with dog chocolate but i am unsure if corn is safe for her to have. Could someone help please?

They generally like their cornflakes best with milk.

You are right about the chocolate tho, keep that away from her. Other people food is safe for them, but I would avoid onions and anything that gives you gas. If you are giving them poor nutrition via the people food, it will show in the stool. A healthy stool is firm, not loose, but not hard either. The only people food I allow my dogs, a show German Shepherd and a champion Toy Fox Terrier, is beef fat. I have a heart condition so I buy round and sirloin steak/roasts and trim the fat before grinding the beef. I get the lean, the dogs get a little fat mixed in with their dog food.

Glad to see you love your dog; they are a joy.

Good luck.

A few cornflakes every now and then shouldn't hurt them. Other good treats for your dogs (and yourself) are: Plain air popped popcorn vegetables (No onions, garlic or tomato leaves, all are poisonous to dogs and cats) Fruits (No grapes, apple seeds, or peach pits, (they contain poison for dogs and cats) Stay away from citrus fruits, the can be hard on their stomachs too, although my dog like a bit of orange from time to time. No milk (it upsets their stomachs, but if they accidentally take a few licks from your glass when you are not looking, like my dog does >:-( it won't kill them) Definitely no chocolate. My dog loves apples, strawberries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, carrots, celery and many other fruits and veggies. The juice from a can of tuna is also good. I split the amount between my dog and my cat. If it is tuna in oil this helps keep dandruff off of your animal, if it is tuna in water, they just love the taste, I mix it with a small amount of dry food. Another fun treat is an ice cube, they love to play with them on the linoleum! Have fun and good luck!

My dogs love cereal. You're right to be careful about chocolate but in my experience dogs don't usually like doggy chocolate! Cornflakes will do your dog no harm at all.

I cannot see it would be a problem as long as it is only a treat every now and then. Make sure it is cornflakes and not frosties or anthing with sugar, the corn will be good her. But remember as a treat

I think aside from the dietary issues that you could be looking at in the long term (over weight/diabetes, and more)... that you will be looking at some potential behavior issues.

Begging can be a big, long term serious issue that many owners don't carefully consider when choosing to feed their dogs human food.

This can also lead to new habits such as digging through the trash and eating things out of there, which can lead to more problems.

Hope this helps.

Corn on the cob is difficult for them to digest but corn flakes are already processed and ground down to a digestible form. If you have a decent substitute for the chocolate you have no problem. Happy snacking.

A couple won't hurt but too much maize causes a skin irritation that looks like lice! And she's trying it on because she sees you eating it.
And she definately doesn't need chocolate. Make her some suitable dog snacks, keep them on a bowl at the table and give her one of those instead if you don't mind her begging.
But it really is best if she gets her own food in her own bowl and then settles in her bed with a dog chew or raw carrot while you eat in peace.

Yes you can! corn is fine for dogs, and as long as you stick to the doggie chocolate you'll have no problems at all.

Dogs will and can eat almost anything.

Corn flakes would not be the end of the world for her to have, just not that much, and not too often.
