The following recipe needs 3 cups of unsweetened applesauce. That should help you use it up!! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/mothers-applesauce-cake/detail.aspx
It is called Mother's Applesauce Cake. Be very careful of what recipes you use when using unsweetened applesauce. One cake that we made we used our homemade applesauce and it didn't turn out as well as using store bought applesauce. Use whatever applesauce is called for.
To cut the calories, don't put the icing on and cut the sugar down to 1 1/2 cups instead of 2. Either way it is delicious...I just didn't know if you counted calories. The cake also needs about 30 minutes more in the oven then what the recipe states.

Buy two packages of White Cake mix and one Granny Apple or equal.
Peel the apple and shave it into thin slices.
Heat the apples in teaspoon orange flavoring
and 1/4 cup brown sugar and two tablespoos apple juice. Soon as the apples are soft, pour in the applesauce. Stir, add cup of Raisins. For the sweet taste that you want, add brown sugar in tablespoon amounts. (Only if not sweet enough to your taste)
Pour into a bowl add cake mix and what ever is on the box. (eggs, milk, butter, etc)
Reduce the amount of milk called for on the cake box because you have to allow for the moisture in the apple sauce.
Follow baking time on the cake box.

Use it in identical quantity as a replacement for oil in cake mixes, quickbreads, and muffins for moist cake with less fat. Also use a portion (like 1/3 or less) as a substitute for water in "complete" mixes. I do this all the time. Also, try blending it into hot oatmeal for breakfast, or warm it , add some cinnamon, and use on pancakes or waffles instead of syrup (YUMMMM). Simmer it till most of the moisture is out, add a pat of butter, and serve over pork or ham. I can go on and on here...

Just open the cans...put in a pan....add sugar(to taste) and a few 'red hot' candies...enough to change the color to pink. Bingo...a great side dish with pork.
