It's not a religious celebration, as far as I know, but it's principally done in Spanish-speaking cultures, and most people from that culture are Catholic.

I know the word quince paste comes from a fruit, so maybe a fruity religion? Ask the Sanfrancisci folks LOL.

It's an age celebration, mostly from Spanish-speaking cultures...something like N. America's "Sweet Sixteen" mixed with "Coming out-debutante" thing. It's just a big fun-filled 15th birthday party! ;-)

well i come from a Spanish background and most Spanish people are catholics. but it is a celebration that Mexican people like myself celebrate. so there for its a Mexican tradition.
