There is NO home remedy for split ends meaning there's no way to fix split end, the only way would be to cut them off.

Split ends occur when hair is repeatedly damaged over a period of time. Ends of long hair have been subjected to months (sometimes years) of recurring assault—like high heat from styling tools, sun exposure, chemicals in pools, salt in oceans, hair dyes, perms, hairbrushes, and more. All of these things chip away at the cuticle, the protective outer layer of the hair. When the cuticle is finally worn down, it is irreplaceable. You can't mend it or put it back together, and there are no hair-care products that can undo damage. What you can do is reduce how often you get your hair dyed or permed, and brush your hair as infrequently as possible. If you can manage, don't use the high-heat setting on your blow dryer or flatiron (though be aware that high heat does help control hair better), and keep hair out of the sun. Beyond that, the only way to deal with split ends when they appear is to cut them off. When you have and wish to maintain healthy, long hair, a good general rule is to have the ends trimmed every 4-6 weeks. These trims will eliminate any new split ends and keep your long hair looking beautiful.

I always learn so much from these Q's!! Yes, trimming is the best answer but I have a quickie method that "manages" frayed ends...Citra shine. Its a gooey liquid that you use an itty bitty drop to the ends of your hair and they appear polished and not quite so unhappy. (A little hand lotion works in a pinch if you are out and about)
