I often come up with lots of ideas but never have time to file them straight away so I would like to be able to organise these notes afterwards and maybe search them as well.

If you have MS Outlook for email, then you have post-it-notes in that.

Spreadsheets like MS Excel are an easy way to store notes. If you have MS Access then it would be very easy to write a simple db application.

I use Keynote, a great, free open source program. Adware and spyware free.

you should have a notepad on your computer,left click on start,all programes,then scroll through the lists.
