Yes,I usually just trim my hair so around 2 or 3 dollars. If you're getting something done that takes a long time, then 5 would probably be good. The cost to trim my hair is 10 and it takes like 10 minutes.so 2 or 3 dollars is actually 20-30 % in case that sounded cheap.

Depends. How much was the cut? Are you satisfied. If the job was done to your liking I would tip 15% to 20% if they work in a salon. If it is their own business I'd tip a little less becouse they make more profit(10%-15%). If they did not do what I asked I'd tip nothing and find a new stylist.

I believe if they own the shop tipping is not expected but if they don't then 10-20% is standard, the reason is the owner isn't getting a cut take out, a stylist usually is working under a 60/40 split, or paying rent.

My cousin does my hair. She works in a very trendy, upscale type salon (well upscale for where we live). She does a great job, but refuses to charge me. So I'll give her 15-20 dollars because that's about what she would make after the salon takes their cut (no pun intended) if she were charging me. Mine is usually just a trim but it takes about 30+ minutes because we're catching up on family gossip.

It's up to you. If they own the shop then NO, if they rent, 5% is good, if they are on salary 10% or better is good. Do NOT feel like you have to give more at Christmas or for their birthday, just give something from your heart and know that they have plenty more clients to take care of their needs.

Tip the stylist 10 to 15 percent of your total bill if he or she is the only person who worked on your hair.

No. Nobody can cut my hair right but my usually hairstylist.

I usually can never get an appointment with the one person i want to cut my hair, she's a family friend. But when i can get an appointment with her, i do give her a tip. She's the only one that can cut my hair right.

Minimum 10% but usually 20%. You want to keep the people happy who have your looks in their hands.
