HA-HA! Read about the breed further: this is one active, busy (some say hyper) breed.

I suggest going to the library & picking up a few all-breed guides. When you narrow it down, research further: go to www.akc.org & find more info through the breed's club.

A good small dog that is mellower than most I like (but you must decide if it fits your lifestyle) is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel: http://www.akc.org/breeds/cavalier_king_charles_spaniel/photos.cfm They even come in a black & tan, or black, tan & white pattern that would look very nice with a Rottie. Be sure to buy from a reputable breeder (also can find through the breed's club) that has screened the parents for heart problems & subluxated pattelas.

A Min Pin will drive your rotty nuts. They yap a lot and aren't mellow at all. My stepmom use to have one and it drove her Doberman crazy. Is the rot good with small dogs, won't step on them? My rott mix use to trample my little dogs. Bassethounds are over all pretty mellow most of the time. Little dogs for the most part do drive big dogs crazy with their yapping (atleast mine did lol) especially if the older big dog is use to being alone.

Miniature pinchers are cool little dogs but they are sure hyper and yappy. You need something a little more mellow like a basset hound or wiener dog. They are so cute too.

MIN PIN are a very hyper dog if you want a melllow little dog look into a pekingese or a shitzu I know alot about pekes they require little exercise and are great companion dogs also think they are royalty I believe this goes back to early times when the only pekes were in chinese tempels as guard dogs they usually have great temperments and lifelong loyalty to there masters

Well, first of all minature pinschers tend to be quite hyper and energetic. My suggestion to you is to read up on the smaller breeds first. You can try going to www.petsmart.com, go to the "dog" section, scroll down and take a look at the ASPCA Breed Guide. You may want to consider a Boston Terrier. They tend to be very sweet, get along well with everybody, including other animals, and are easy to train. Just a suggestion. Good luck!

My sister inlaw has a Bichon. Her dog gets along with our Airedale, Boxer and Yorky really well. She is very mellow. Good dog for apartment. Doesn't need much exercise.

defiantly a little yorkie they are a tiny dog with a huge personality a great house dog easy to train and if they do have a accident it only tiny !!! and another plus is that they dont shed hair we have a little female called gracie and we have her in doors all the time she is so clean and loves being pampered with baths and blowdrys !! shes my constant companion and goes ever where with me as for small dogs they are defiantly the best then again I'm bias i know yorkies have a rep to be yappy little madams but with us it not the case shes easy going and placid id recommend a female as she would be less likely to annoy the "old man" and he might have more patience with her good luck in what ever you choose

A Shih Tzu will be mellow. They are not high strung, and are sturdy little dogs.
