Incorrect! You are deferred for 1 year from the date that you got the last tattoo. This time period allows for the buildup of antibodies in your blood that may indicate if you've contracted AIDS, Hep C, or a number of other diseases associated with unsanitary practices. If you test negative after a year, you should be OK, until you get another tattoo.

You can donate blood after getting a tatoo or piercing, but you have to wait a certain amount of time(6months -a year I believe) before donating again.Find a website about blood donation to find out all the rules.

I'm not sure where the information on the question you referenced comes from, but as far as I know, there is no reason and no preventative that dis-allows homosexuals from donating blood. You are tox-screened, and tested to be sure, but, barring the possibility of any complications or diseases, the blood is perfectly acceptable and will be taken, as far as I know. The last time I donated blood was in my eighth or ninth grade, around the time I had just "come out" as gay. They asked me if I was sexually active, had any diseases, was on this or that medication, taking drugs, blah blah blah, but they never asked me if I was gay. Now, albeit, at the time I was also NOT sexually active, and I imagine there would be other questions if I had answered yes, but so long as you know that you are "clean," should they ask your orientation, simply tell them you are uncomfortable divulging that information, or tell them you're straight if you think being gay will disqualify you from donating. I agree that IF you are denied giving blood on the basis of orientation then something needs to be changed, but, like I said, as far as I know, orientation doesn't disqualify you.

According to the blood donation guidelines, you need to wait 12 months after a tattoo is applied if you are in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This is because of the concern of hepatitis. There are only a few states that regulate tattoo businesses, so most donors have to wait 12 months. You would have to contract the American Red Cross in your state to see if these businesses are regulated in your state.

No just for the first year or so. The Blood people are deathly afraid of resent body piercings, tattoo's and such. Reason: Most Hep-C exposures occur inside tattoo parlors. I guess its with good reason Hep-C is nasty. I think they just wait till the incubation period is over...0-12 months or so... Hope that answers your question..

I think it's just for 6 months after a tattoo...not the rest of your life. But I am not positive on that one.
