Sailors would tattoo nautical stars on their forearms as a good luck symbol in hopes of returning home. It is also a popular tattoo design used by punk rockers, soldiers, and others, mostly as a symbol for finding one's way through life.

They are good luck symbols.
But they MAJORITY of the people you see with nautical stars tattooed on them, have not the first clue what they mean, they just have them b/c every other person with tattoos has one or b/c they think its cool!

My papa had nautical stars and a compass he got them with his friends when he got back from korea.. they mean good luck all 10 of my tattoos are navy/nautical, except 2...... its extremely addictive.. i donno whey all the little "punk/emo kids" keep getting them they dont know the background

It's not punk/emo kids getting them. It's bros and brohos. The punk/emo kids make fun off the bros. Definition of a bro- DUMB *** haha
