My daughter is allergic to every fabric softener I have tried. All the major brands, the supermarket own brands, even the environmentally friendly ones and ones for sensitive skin make her itch and scratch till she bleeds. Anyone know any specialist brands or even a natural alternative?

Detergent is ok - I use Fairy. But I hate the stiff clothes and would love to find a conditioner that doesn't leave her all red and blotchy! There must be one. . . .

Fairy make a fabric softener. I have not seen this in all shops, but large supermarkets sell it. Comfort pure is good too. If you hang dry clothes which have only been washed in detergent, they can be stiff. Put them in a tumble dryer for just 5 minutes after you bring them in off the line/radiator and this will make them almost as soft as with a fabric softener.

Are you using liquid fabric softener or sheets? Dryer sheets tear my skin up, but what I've found that works best for me is the generic store brand pink stuff that just says Fabric Softener on the label. I've also had success with Downy free. Just about everything else makes me break out.

Actually, my allergist told me that everyone with significant allergies should avoid dryer sheets.

Good luck.

My kids and I all have sensitive skin, so I don't use any fabric softener at all. I find that's what works best for us. Also , it just might be the laundry detergent that's causing problems too. Check that out as well.

Try Confort Pure if you have not already, its the only ones my kids can tolerate. Make sure you are not using a biological washing powder as well.
Do a small patch test before you do a whole wash in it tho.
