There are so many reasons why they require a son,
1. According to Hindu mythology a son only cremate the body
2. Guy can only go outside for work to get money, girls need to stay inside the house.
3. While marrying a woman the parents have to give dowry
4. Their family name can only be carried out through son.
5. Gals are obedient and don't do any naughty stuffs, and all parents like their kids naughty....

Hello, It is just the way things are because of long traditions. They themselves also like the arranged marriage route. When the children do not listen and go their own way they are cut off from the family and this is not good when the family is well to do. The family comes before your mate, period.I suggest you let him go and move on since I know of some of these inter cultural marriages that have been total disasters thanks to the son or daughter not wanting to cut the umbilical cord with an interfering family. In the indian soiety parents think that boys are will look after them in their old age. unfortunately now a days boys become their source of income at the time marriages.

I'm not Indian but of smiler culture ! usually the boy is favoured over a girl coz the boy will be responsible for them as they get older ( financial , housing and looking after ) they don't have benefit and retirement funds as we do here in the u.s.a ... and when a girl marries she is considered part of her husbands family but the boy is for his family he keeps the family last name but the girl doesn't she takes her husbands , so she is no longer part of her birth family .

from what i understand Indian boy there is less maintenance, but it depends on the parents if they treat boys better than girls i feel it's not right but girls in reality develop faster than boys. getting a girl married off can be expensive.

NO not now now things are changing now girls and boys both are loved equally. IFthere parents r well educated then they do not show any difference between a boy and a girl.

An Indian boy is a warrior, fighter,hunter & provider, whereas a girl does the work, cooks meals, washes clothes, has kids and all that good stuff. It`s not right but that is the way it is.

because indian parents have awrong notion that their sons will take care of then in their old age but these days sons are rushing their old parents to old age hmes while daughters give parents the emotional security and love.
