Not a turnoff in the least...but then that's not "too nice" it's being courteous.
Too nice can be a turnoff, if he crosses from respectful courtesy to doormat.

It's not a turn off as long as it's not out of hand. When a guy first starts dating a girl, it's nice to open the car door for her and walk her to her front door. If the guy seems awkward, like he's trying too hard to do ALL the nice things (like pull out her chair at dinner and go overboard on the compliments) it just seems insincere.

Absolutely not. I think many of the younger generation girls feel this way, I don't know if it's just immiaturity or what. I'm 22 years old and my husband is the sweetest guy ever and I feel so lucky to have him. I think there are just a lot of factors that affect what a woman wants in a man. Whatever you do, keep being nice because in the long run, you will find a true woman that really respects that quality in you and she won't be stupid like the rest of them.

This female says Never; although there will be those who will not always appreciate the things a nice guy will do for them. Don't stop being nice, even if there are those idiots out there who say that being nice is just the opposite. I would trade the most selfish jerk in the world, (looks not mattering) for a man who treated me in a decent manner.

Don't let these chicks fool you!!!!! The nice guy approach is hell! Trust me I know from experience. Being a gentlemen and kind is one thing, but the definition of nice, is easy and doesn't cause problems. Nice guys don't stand up for themselves and don't stand up to their lady when she is out of line. When you think nice, think easy....like a door mat. Aim more for a gentleman that does what he wants.
I garauntee every girl in here that says she wants a nice guy has dumped or turned down a guy because that nice guy had no backbone.
Ask 'em!

nice is great, but doing things to conform to some set of rules on how men and women should be together, thats crazy. don't get me wrong, i'd be livid if a guy let a door slam in my face but in saying that i'd be pretty angry if anyone did that. i wouldn't like a man to feel he has to freeze to death because i want his jacket. but if he wasn't feeling the cold and i was it would only make sense for him to lend it to me.
so no, nice guys are not a turn off. in fact they are a big turn on. but it's more about respect and common courtesy than the 'big man look out for small woman' thing. you know?

opening doors for a woman is a respect thing as has nothing to do with being "nice". opening doors and things like that are just manners. now, true "nice" guys are another matter. i know a guy that is a "nice" guy. he has no balls. if i were single, i would walk all over the guy without any intention of doing it because he's just that nice.

Guys being too nice is not a turn off at all. It is just that most guys want a guy who is nice to her but still masculine and tough. We don't want our men to be "wimpy" so to say. But nice and respectful is definately not a bad thing. Just don't be a pushover.

I love nice guys, I dont understand where men get the idea that all women like mean guys. I love it when a guy opens doors, pulls out my chair. Its a good thing. Trust me.

It depends how nice you're talking. Personally, I LOVE the guys who will open a door for you, say thank you, pick up your books if you drop them. However, someone who follows you around doing that constantly (Mike from Twilight if anyone's read it) gets extremely annoying.
