My husband and I have been happily married for several years. We are in our 30s and are thinking of having a child. Financially, we can only have one. I would rather hear from parents, if the whole giving your life to a child only to have the child leave is worth the energy or not. Also is having only one child ok, or is better not to have any? Thank you for your help!

I am a dad of two teenagers, a boy and a girl. It is certainly worth the effort. Giving is more important than living selfishly, but you must be certain that you and he see it that way as well.
I was not sure that my brother was going to be a good dad, but he is a very loving father to my nephew.
You will surprise yourself at how much you will love your child.

FINANCIALLY? What ,are you doing this through invitro fertilization? Heck, if all our parents waited till they could afford us we (you,me, and 2/3 of the world wouldn't be here) Children are a blessing from GOD. And yes, they are worht it when you have done your part raising them and they go out into the world and do well, marry, and have kids YOUR GRANDKIDS!!!! This is the best part of all!! Why ,cause that is when you tell them "See what we went through raising you"! And by all means have more than one as they are quite amusing / get on your last nerve types of sibling rivalry. Your whole purpose in life is to multiply! I know people who opted not to have kids and they are lonely old couples now. I know people who couldn't have kids and adopted 5 kids and they are wealthy with love from the grandkids. That kind of wealth money cannot buy!!!!!

All of the people that I have met in my lifetime whom have decided not to have children ended up regretting it. There is a time limit for this you know, and once you pass that point, it is too late. I think you should have a child. I have two and plan on having more. Trust me, they are worth more than everything.

The final choice is yours and your husband, but my experience, is this, I never regretted having chldren, and even though I am a single father with sole custody, I would not change anything. Yes it is time comsuming, and many duties have to be shared and there will be some life adjustments, but to me, it has been well worth it, and there are pros and cons to everything in life, but a child is a gift fro m God and needs to be treasured. Good Luck in whatever you choose...

It is best to have them young, but if you are willing to see it through and give your live to him/her, then yes. A child causes a lot of heartbreak, but is worth it in the end. If you are willing to go through it, do it and goodluck.
