This is a difficult one. If you have only one sister and you are quite close, then it would definitely be a thought, although it is not wrong at all NOT to have her be your maid of honor. Another reason to consider your sis: if you have two very best friends and you can't choose between them.
Main thing to remember is this: Your maid of honor should be someone you completely trust, you can be open with, and who has stood by you through the most. Whoever is in your life that you feel closest to in this manner, I would say choose them.

No that is not mean my best friend is going to be my maid of honor and both of my sisters are bridesmaids. Your maid of honor should be the person you are closest to and not to be rude or anything but this is your big day it is supposed to be the way you want it and if your sis doesn't like it she needs to take it with a grain of salt.

No. There is nothing wrong with not having your sister as your maid of honor. Your maid of honor should be someone you feel closest too and that is not always a sibling. As long as your sister has a special role in the wedding, which you have done, that's all that matters.

NO. Your maid of honor is generally the best friend. Whether it be a sister or not. It is an honor to be asked to stand up in a wedding with someone and position in line should mean nothing. Congratulations on your wedding.

you are not. I only have one sister and she wants to be my maid of honor but i told her that my best friend is and my sister was a little sad but she understands. Your sister loves you and she will understand. Just let her know that no matter what she will always be your sister and that is the most important role that she has. Tell her no one can play a better role at being a sister than her. Congratulations and good luck

Have whoever you want as your Maid of Honor. I never heard that it was required for the spot to be given to a sister.

Well it's your wedding so it's your choice. If you are afriaid of upsetting someone, you could always make them both the maid of honor. Like I said before, It's your wedding but if I were you I would ignor tradition and have two maids of honor.

It's your wedding--you decide who the maid of honor is. If your sister is going to be offended, that's her own problem. It's your day and the beginning of the rest of your life, you make the decisions.

No. You do NOT have to have your sister as your maid of honor. If I were getting married I would have my best friend
not one of my 5 sisters.
My sister in law had her best friend as maid of honor and sister
as just a brides maid.
