dep is short for data execution prevention, part of windows that stops programs from running allegedly to save the user from running malicious programs such as viruses/trojans.

to disable data execution prevention for everything except the bare necessities, if you feel it is doing you no favours, you can:
1. Start at your Desktop
2. Right Click 'My Computer'
3. Select 'Properties'
4. Click the 'Advanced' tab
5. In the 'Performance' region select 'Settings'
6. Click the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab
7. Select 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only'
8. Click 'OK'
9. Click 'OK'
10. Reboot your PC

DEP can be switched to only running for essential windows related programs (as far as I know it cannot be turned off completely) by right-clicking My Computer, going to the Advanced tab, pressing the top most advanced button, and then clicking on the Data Execution Prevention tab. Keep in mind that DEP is a security measure, but turn it off if it is keeping you from running programs.

Hi,Have you made any changes in your controls.Maybe you locked down the program section. There definitely is some thing causing this from a command stand point. You have to back up and think of what you did before this happened. If you can shut it down and reboot it I would try that.Just remember it is following a command.Good LUCK ROSCO
