Isn't it odd how these guys who have nothing better to do with there time, post these lame topics in hopes of causing so much controversy they get a little attention. Coincidence? I think not.

Kings like the heathen kings of Babalon, Persia, Greece, Rome, etc? These kings were despotic.
Most of the Hebrew kings were not despotic. They treated the citizens with justice and mercy.
God loves you and only wants what is good for you. Everything He calls 'sin' is bad for you and society. He tells you "no" because He knows these things will harm you. I tell my kids 'don't run accross the road without looking' not because I am a "despot" but because I love them. They run under a car, whose fault is it? You sin and bear the consequences, Whose fault is it? NOT A DESPOTIC GOD!
Hell? An existance without the God you don't believe in. You will find out what it is like to be where He isn't. Once again YOUR CHOICE. Look before you run across the road.

Which would be why, in the new testament, God sent a messenger to help people get the message right. The Bible, like all things that comes from human beings, is shaped and influenced by the mind set, knowledge and beliefs of the times. Things were much more primitive then, and city laws were held in as high regard as God's laws, even by God, because it was necessary to keep them 'in line', so to speak. (This would be why so many of the Leviticus codes seem to horrible and weird. They weren't really divine mandate, but city laws, created around a more primitive understanding of the world) God grows with the times.
But then again, that's just my belief, and I'm entitled to it just as you're entitled to yours. I believe that every single belief on earth is true and necessary in that it is true and necessary for the person who holds it.

Why is this reported? It's a question, and it doesn't have any cuss words or vulgar language. Just because the answerer doesn't agree with it doesn't mean it's wrong.
Now, for my answer. I agree; it makes sense that the population would imagine their god as a large version of the kings already in place.

Every ancient religion came to be so that these people could explain natural phenomena such as volcanoes, hurricanes, droughts, etc. They did things like sacrifices (animal & human) to appease whatever God they prayed to at the time. Remember how long ago the Bible was written & what the men (only men) who wrote it were like at the time.

The Christian God loves you. He wants you to live forever in heaven. Everything good in this earth comes from Him. He wants a relationship with each one of us - flaws and all.
Don't really see your point.

It is odd that you seem to have read the bible to a degree and you feel that God is in any way wrong.
