The U.S just stationed more aircraft carriers off of iran's coast and they also installed several patriot missle batteries. But I was just thinking this through and i thought that the surge was to help with Iraq. But iraq does ot have any rockets to be shot down by patriot missle systems ad we dont need to station aircraft carriers to hold f-16s that could bomb iraq because they have land bases now so is this whole thing related to bush saying that iran will not be allowed to get in the way of progress in iraq in his speech because this stuff sure as hell is not intended for iraq.

No. There is no 'troop surge' for Iran.

We have sent an extra carrier to the region several times before. This is nothing more than a reminder to the Iranian government as to why they should no try anything with us.

People have been claiming that an attack on Iran is 'imminent' for 25 years. Why should we believe them now?

carrier battle groups are as much a politcal statement now adays as a military one. it says hey i can sit off the cost and bomb you with impunity, a carrier group has enough destructive power to level small nations, so politcally you put one there and it gets the other guy thinking. also the installation of patriot missles doesnt surprise me they also moved some to japan and SK does that mean were going to invade North Korea? its just a politcal manuver. in away it is related to that but not with any plans to invade its the game of politcal manuvering. thi region is in a delicate state right now and if we continually invade arab nations well then thatll degrade (even further) our relations with moderate muslim nations which i think even bush knows is a bad thing

What is your point? Do you really think that the experiences of the Gulf Wars would be the same as Iran? I do not think so. Please, try to think again before attacking Iran. The civil war in Iraq is already threatening to spread throughout the entire region if that happens.

The US forces can barely manage the civil war in Iraq, what makes you think that they can manage a war of that scale in the entire region? Please, do not think that just because you have fancy planes the US forces are invincible. Political forces matter.

I believe it was mentioned in news that these military deployments were being sent as a message to Iran , that the US was not tied down in Iraq and Afghanistan and could still handle business in the persian gulf area if need be. and that Iran;s interference in Iraq must stop. Also with Iran constantly threatning Israel with destruction, that they will not stand on the sidelines while Iran develops the nuclear capilbility to do it.aslo i think it is a move to backup Israel should it decide to eliminate that threat.
