being rich doesn't have anything to do with it.
Alot of the times, I would get grounded and in a day, my dad would let me off the hook. Why? because I didn't care. He knew I didn't care. And he had to do other forms of discipline on me. Grounding never worked. I would say that's the deal with your parents. Either that, or they want you to be their best friend rather than their daughter. However, being rich went a little overboard, and it has nothing to do with that.

Sounds like bad parenting to me. Nothing against your mom, or not much against her, anyways, but it is hard to teach a kid anything if you let them play games and then take them off grounding after two hours. I guess the question is, what were you being punished for? Maybe she decided you didn't need to be punished for it.

Your mom needs to learn how to discipline. When I was grounded I had to sit in my room, on my bed, unless I was doing chores. I had no privileges whatsoever, and she NEVER went back on it or let me off early. If she said I was grounded 4 weeks, it was 4 weeks, even if it interfered with her own plans.

What McDoud01 said and I'll add, many parents are afraid of being unpopular with their kids; when what kids really want, evne if they don't understand it yet, is discipline, follow through and consistency. They want parents to be parents, not peers.

Other reasons abound too.

Parents usually love their kids, they don't like punishing you. They just want you to be good and do the right thing. Not be a spoiled rotten rich brat.

No it has nothing to do with your wealth, its probably because parents don't want you around so that gives them an excuse to let you leave the house.

It is because parents love you so much that they hate to punish you. Or maybe because they wanted you out of the house.
