Your daughters are 3 and 1 and "You" want their ears pierced. they don't know that yet.

I preferred to have my kids wait. My daughter was 14 and my son was 18. i have one I have had since i was about 25 (now 49)

Many people pierce kids ears, when they are young, but I think it is best to wait until they are making clearer choices for what they want. 1 and 3 is too young in my book, but whatever you do, do not go a place in the mall with a piersing gun, go to a regular pierser that is reputable. Piersing guns can NOT be made sterile. Somehwat disinfected, but no sterile. At a qualified piercer you usually get a new needle each time, if not it has been autoclaved.

I don't see why they can't get their ears peirced if they are girls. I don't really agree with the whole boy ear piercing thing so if it were a boy I would not let him peirce his ears until he is moved out. As for girls, I got my ears peirced when i was 4 weeks old. They say it is better that way when they are young because then your holes never close up so you don't have to worry about wearing earrings 24/7 and if they are fake or not.

I can not agree with piercing the ears of that small of child. For my daughter I'm sure I will take a similar route that my parents did. When I first asked they said no! When I asked again, they said are you sure. I said yes I am sure. They said "Prove you can be responsible enough to take care of them" Finally I got to go get my ears pierced, first we went to our family Dr. and my Dad asked the Dr. to explain what can happen if you do not care for pierced ears and how bad the infections can be. When I still wanted to do it after that Dad took me and got it done. I was 9 years old.

I personally do not feel anyone should have pierced ears if they are not mature enough to care for them. Most 1 year olds do not Even use the toilet, how can they care for pierced ears?

I got my ears pierced at either 10 or 11 I forget but my mom was very strict in staying with that. She wanted me to be able to take care of my ears on my own and not have her be cleaning them. I think 10 is a reasonable age.

I think most piercing places want you to wait until the child is 3 months old. So you should be fine taking your girls to get their ears pierced now. Just make sure you get it done with the piercing gun...its probably going to be a lot less painful for them than getting an authentic piercing with a cork and needle.

I got mine done when I was 3 months old (and now I have 15 holes in my ears, and I'm going for more) don't listen to all these other ppl...if you want them to get their ears pierced then go for it!

Your one year old wants her ears pierced? Or does she just like the pretty earrings? You can buy her sticker earrings (if she won't eat them) for the time being. I'm going to let my daughter grow up (she's also one) and tell me when she wants her ears pierced. I don't like it when ppl get them done to little babies - they don't understand the pain and can you just imagine infection? Or trying to change them?

Inform your three year old about the amount of pain and work involved and see if she would prefer fake ones for the time being - if not, go ahead.

I would never let a boy get them done. Just my opinion.

I think it is only fair they they are old enough to understand that it is going to hurt for a couple of days and what hurt is. I think they should be old enough to be able to say NO they don't want any thing to hurt them. So i would not pierce my 1-3 year old ears yet. Four is a better age for understanding.

I always heard that 12 is a good age. Then the child is old enough to make a better informed decision that ear piercing is something they really want.

My 2 girls had their ears pierced at the same time. One was 4 and the other 2. They are grown now and there are definitely no pierced ear bad memories or repercussions.

My daughter isnt allowed to get hers done until she is able to take care of them herself. She is 3 1/2 now and is learning how to dress herself with no help, I dont think she can clean and change earings...just one less thing for me to worry about. Maybe 10.
