Ask her about her day. There has to be something the two of you have in common so try to find out what that is and the conversation will come naturally.

Try to be as natural as possible. I have found that it's almost like the less you try to think of something, the more topics come up naturally. Since movies and music are such easy simple topics, maybe try building on a theme or something from a movie...like ask "I'm not really sure how I feel about [theme], what do you think?" Open ended questions about anything at all are the best bet. It should get easier as you both become more comfortable with each other.

just be your self. Be funny or entertaining to her. Since it is over the phone it might be harder. Tell her about your day...weither it was good or not. Ask her about how her day went. Girls love to know that you're interested in what goes on in their lives. If something bad happend then try to cheer her up. Don't try too hard and dont let there be a lot of silence.
