We are looking for a huskyx and a cocker type dog. Our local paper only has labs and shitzu puppies and our local shelter only has older border colliex that we are not interested in. As a last resort I checked the pet store and none of the ones in my area sell Husky size dogs we would rather not get a dog from a pet store.

Look online, we just adopted a husky from a shelter that was a couple hours away because we found it online. It really depends more on your location than the time of year, although my guess is you'll have more luck finding puppies of any breed in the summer. Also, waiting till the summer will make housebreaking alot easier. Good luck!
