hi, does anyone know of a way to open multiple directories/folders at once?
It can be by software or some lite scripting. (hopefully a simple freeware)
I have some quicklaunch software that displays all the folders but I still have to click them individually.
I have a few folders on different partitions with samples and files I work with.
Would like to be able to open all of them at once.

Thanks in advance.

create a text file in start > programs > accessories > notepad with the following lines in it:
explorer c:\windows
explorer c:\tmp
explorer c:\
exit

obviously, substitute what i have above with the paths to the actual folders you want to open when the file is executed.

save this using notepad to your pc with the name openall.bat or something else memorable - do make sure it saves as a *.bat extension though, and not .bat.txt since the extension indicates how it'll be handled by windows and *.bat is a batch of commands.

when you double click openall.bat, or even click a shortcut to openall.bat, all of the folders you specified within the *.bat file will open one after another.

In Windows 7 you can open multiple folders within the same window but I think it s only the ones that are on the start menu. If you right click the Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos or Downloads folders and select properties you can include other folders, then simply send to desktop to create a shortcut.

Select the folders by clicking and dragging around all of them. Then right-click and choose Open out of the right-click menu.

Another way of selecting many folders is by holding down CTRL, then clicking on each folder you want to select. Or if the folders are all in a list, click the first one in the list and then hold down Shift as you click the last one in the list. All of the folders between will be selected.

PCs suck, they should open together in the same window not multiple windows, that defeats the purpose. On a MAC you can open all the folders within one window.
