I just moved to Los Angeles and was caught by the police today.

It was a holiday and the traffic was light.
I was in the left turn lane at the cross of street and found I should turn right instead. There was no car behind me, so I turned right turn signal and crossed two middle lines and went to the right turn lane, and made a right turn.
Then the policy stopped me and said if I was in the left lane, I should stay in the left lane.

I can't believe it. People do that all the time. I was given a citation (22100(a)). 22100 (A) is about you should drive as close to the right curb as possible when making a right turn to a high way. I did switch to the right lane and then made the right turn.

Can I contest the citation? Do I have a chance to win?

You can fight it but I bet you will lose.
Each ticket I fought, even if my excuse what not accepted, they always lowered the amont of the fine.

Your options might be to plead not guilty and go to trial; submit a written explanantion to the judge; or plead guilty with an explanation and try to go to traffic school.

I don't think you could win since you already said that people do this manuever all the time - you didn't get into the right lane early enough according to the cop and crossed two lanes of traffic too quickly.

I would plead not guilty and see if the cop shows up to the trial - sometimes the judge will dismiss the ticket if the cop doesn't show up. If he does show you can probably change your plea to guilty or guilty with an explanation.

Good luck!

It's your time and money, and you have the right to contest the ticket. From your statement, you would have as much luck at winning as a snowball in hell. Grow up, pay the fine, you know you were wrong. Don't waste the courts time and money, besides the officer will have to be there if you contest the ticket. He could be out on the street saving someones lift.

people do it all the time.....

"its only against the law if you get caught"

guess what

"you got caught"

I would just pay & go to traffic safety school to avoid the conviction on my driving record (why take a chance i say! it can only increase the rate you pay in insurance like forever)

if you feel lucky can or you can plead guilty & ask for supervision if you have no record this way you only get the conviction if you fail your supervison.

you can contest it & hope the cop doesn't show in court but, it is always a gamble but, if he/she is there your dead.

hope this helps,

ss

Just pay the fine and don't do it again. I hate it when people do that kind of stuff, whether other cars are round or not. You should have just made your turn and then turned around somewhere.Think ahead when you are driving and you won't have this problem.

Just quit complain and pay it. You probably did like a rolling stop. If you stopped the cop wouldn't have pulled you over and gave you a ticket.

You will probably lose if you fight the citation..
They may let you take a defensive driving course
and cancel the ticket..

I was cited for the same thing.Illegal turn and just paid the fine was not worth the time and money to fight it.
