Anticipating a particular response, let me also ask:

How was Adam's body able to remain biologically alive and functional for the amount of time he was alive? Was there something different about his body? Did God somehow keep his physical body alive? If so, how?

When I was a Christian, I was taught that Adam's body was more genetically "sturdy" than ours because he was "made perfect". We are weaker because of sin in the world and because (I swear I'm not making this up!) Adam and Eve's children had to inbreed to produce, which weakened our genes.

I doubt that's good science, but it's what I was taught as a child.

I think it was like 900 something years old.

A fundy will tell you that prior to The Great Flood, God allowed men to live to very old ages. After The Flood, a practical limit of 120 years was put on life expectancy.

By the way, this is all hearsay. The only evidence we have for this comes from books attributed to Moses. We already know that Moses greatly exaggerated the Noah story, so it's likely he stretched the truth elsewhere. Moses was a disgruntled ex-prince who wanted to get revenge on Egypt by skiving off with most of its working class and a good bit of its wealth.

Well the bible records him dying at 930 years of age. If you read the genesis account god did not purpose for humans to die, death was no where in the plans for mankind. They were to become fruitful and fill the earth. God said that if they disobeyed him they would die for the penalty of sin is death. Many people in early times lived well into there hundreds. Methusala was recorded to have lived to 969 years of age. But as time continued and the affects of adamic sin ran it's toll on the human race, the human life span decreased dramatically. Especially after the record of the flood did mans life span reduce according to the bible.
It is foolish that people think death is naturally part of a humans life for death is called an enemy in God's word and God says that in his kingdom that we pray for in the lords pray to come to earth as it is in heaven, that he would eliminate death forever. Check it out it is recorded at Rev 20:13-14 about death being destroyed in the lake of fire which means the secound death. And at 1 Corinthians 15:26 it says that the last enemy death is to be brought to nothing.
That whole chapter talks about Christ bringing about these changes to earth and then handing back kingly power to his father who he remains subject to, which is quite interesting.

Notice also in the Bible people lived to be less and less as the population grew and disease and stress became more and more. I am convinced if we had no stress and no diseases in this world, we could live much past 100. Adam was not the only one to live for several hundred years. You know what? If you accept Jesus, you can go ask God yourself when you get to heaven. God bless.

He lived to be like 900 years old.

God later made it that people could only live to be 120. I don't remember the reason...but both are in Genesis and Exodus.

In order to understand how he lived that long, you'd have to understand what the living circumstances were like.

There was no disease or sickness or anything when God created the world. Eventually sin and the Devil brought it about. If we had no medicine or doctors, etc. today we'd probably live to be 15.

Adam lived for 930 years. Things took a big turn after the flood. God even said man's years shall be threescore and ten. I think the vapor canopy before the flood might be the reason. try drdino.com

well, according to the biblical version of things, adam and eve had the tree of life as a buffet, since it is mentioned that the tree of life was also in the garden, but only the tree of knowledge was forbidden fruit. assuming that the tree of life was what had been keeping them alive, you could also sort of assume that the effects lasted even after they had stopped eating from it, and so they died more slowly than normal.

Adam died at age 930. His body didn't have all the pollutants that we do today.

But he wasn't the oldest living person. Methuselah lived to be 969. He was the oldest living person ever.

930 years old. I'm not sure why there are so many people in the Bible that lived to be hundreds of years old. This is something that I still don't get...
