Tell them "you may think I'm too young to have anything to be depressed about, but I feel depressed. No matter how hard you try or how trivial you think it is, they're my feelings." The fact of the matter is, young people are capable of being depressed and committing suicide. I remember reading a story about a 12-year-old boy who hanged himself for fear of being taunted by kids at his new school. I agree with previous posts -- go to a school counselor if all else fails.

Depression doesn't have a given age and you would you know how your feeling better than anyone else, look up some medical information proving that people even children at very young ages can get depression or talk to a school counselor a church counselor or see a doctor. Your parents are being closed minded and it really isn't going to help your situation.

Go immediately to a professional. If you are in high school or Jr. High school talk to your school counselor or a trusted teacher. If you are out of high school talk to your regular medical doctor, even if you have to make an appointment for something else to get in there past your parents. If you don't have a doctor there are free clinics etc in many cities. Depression is very serious and should never be taking lightly. A professional will be able to direct you to help and talk to your parents about the problem for you. No one is "too young to be depressed."

Talk to a counselor or teacher that you trust. Maybe if they get involved your parents will understand that it's serious. There are a lot of teen support groups in most cities. Depression is very real and very scary if you feel alone. Make your parents listen. If they understand you are serious about this they will help. Good luck. I really hope you get things starightened out. Also, know that generally, it gets better. Depression is always hard, but as you get older it becomes easier to get the help you need. Don't lose faith!

Depression is very serious among young the rate of teen suicide is horrifying.
If you have an older family member you can trust talk to them ask them to help you speak with your parents, if not then your counsel.
Try to let your parents know how you are feeling with out overacting or getting upset they may think your trying to get attention (sorry some kids do this, not saying your are OK)
You need some one to help you talk to them to let them know kids do get depressed very depressed and it can be for reasons that are hidden deep within you........mine were and as an older woman now I have learned to cope
I hope you get them to understand and listen to you very soon

I think that you need to see a councilor at school. Also, write them a note telling them that it is true! There are so many people at a young age that are depressed. Talk to friends about it (if you want to) You really need to get help, and since your parents don't take you seriously, then you need to tell another trusted adult.

If your parents won't take your depression seriously, see your guidance counselor or a trusted adult friend. If all else fails, call the crisis center or suicide hotline in your town. Do you need a physical soon or Gyn appt? You can tell your regular doctor and he can talk to your parents and set you up with meds or therapy. Depression is serious!!!

Talk to your counselor at school or another adult in the family. Ask your parents if they are aware of the high rate of suicide among teens. That ought to give them something to think about.
