It happens all the time. Somebody says something as benign as: my beliefs are flexible, I'm open to new ideas, I don't assume I have monopoly on the truth, etc..., etc...
And someone somehow gets offended. How can that possibly be offensive?

Because what i get is,
If your not following there said God then your against it.
The enemy of there god.. So to speak..

Its very small minded.. Dose it really matter what you follow or believe as long as your a good person by heart.
I personally dont think so, But others do.

Because small minds can't handle the thought of alternative points of view. Just because you HEAR something different does not mean that you will suddenly change your mind or beliefs! An intelligent, well rounded person can handle listening politely and engaging in conversation about a subject without becoming angry or offended.

Yeah I get frustrated with all the atheists who get mad when I say something like that. :)

Assuming you are talking about the reactions of Christians... it is a shame that Christians are represented by a small minority of anti-intellectuals.

As a post-modern Christian, I accept that I do not have a monopoly on the truth, morality can be nuanced by culture, and that all truth is God's truth. I hope that closed-minded Christians can learn such a lesson as well.

There are a lot of closed-minded, brainwashed people on here. I've had 2 answers in the last week flagged because I didn't agree with the asker's political views. There should be some penalty for people who flag other without a valid reason. Then maybe this would stop. Religion is the other "powder keg". I'll respect your point of view, but please respect mine.

People who are either insecure in their own beliefs and are threatened by hearing someone say something out loud that they've been thinking but haven't wanted to say out loud, people who are set in their ways and beliefs to such an extent that they truly believe that everyone else should believe what they do, people who are misguided, small minded, etc. It's takes every kind, I suppose, but it's always nice to know there are still SOME people who keep an open mind. All we can do is keep our end clean, and let them fume it out amongst themselves.

It happens, if you sneeze and say excuse me you could offend anyone. If you make loud funny noises on a bus full of migrant workers you could get killed. Its all about everyone else, there is no fun out there anymore. With terror on the rise, children being stolen and plain old mother nature destroying lives.. well.. its just gotten sad out there. If you they get offended, amend the statement and pretend you were kidding.

In certain instances open-mindness can be laziness to investigate the truth for yourself.

Relative Truth is simply illogical reasoning's. At least investigate, discern, and take a stand based on reason, logic, an evidence!

To lazily say "whatever" lacks respect, integrity, or intelligence.

My opinion.

I have the same problem, a good opinion answer is only that we come across as know it alls, and those who are closed minded have a hard time accepting that we are open to the simplest things.

In our culture now days everyone seems to feel the need to be offended by something. It's really sad that people can't just let things go.
