We are generally afraid of things because we don't know what exactly will happen to us. Fear of the unknown keeps mankind from venturing into realms that can scare us BECAUSE they are unknown.

People who have already died once, KNOW what is waiting for them at the time of death, so they no longer have reason to fear it.

I would imagine it would be like falling asleep and dreaming of the most magical place you could ever imagine. I imagine it to be peaceful, warm, safe and the feeling that someone who was very close to you - and had passed away - was also very close to you at that moment.

I have heard that there is a white light - I think they would feel comforted by this light and a feeling of guidance towards it.

For anyone to experience this moment and feel comforted in the fact that they won't be alone would make anyone feel safe should the occasion arise again and that they will find peace and the joy of reunion of sorts.

I’ve been pronounced dead twice, (once by a paramedic at the scene of an accident), and another time, by an attending physician in a hospital emergency room.

Although I still do not know what sort of existence awaits us after we die, I was completely calm and at ease on both occasions.

In fact, I found it more than a little bit frustrating when I felt obligated to return to my body to calm my girlfriend who was getting hysterical over my death.

I nearly drowned and it really is not that bad - pleasant really, not at all scary. Saw my life over etc. To be honest dying is nothing compared to the pain we all inflict on each other. Everyone should cherish every moment we have with those around us. I find it hard to sympathise with others petty problems - well you could be dead.
